updates....

I haven't blogged in a week do to friends in town and busy weekends. I have been playing quite a bit on the weekdays still, and am liking the progress I am making mentally and emotionally throughout my sessions. I am down $2400 my last 2100 hands since Dec 8th at varying limits. I am getting smashed at 5/10 but its just variance. I am excited by how much money and action I am able to make just bum hunting 3/6-10/20, and will be doing that moving forward all 2010.

This weekend is going to be amazing since its my last weekend in Arizona before I go back home for x-mas. Emily has a furthering education class for work that she will be taking on Friday, and I am sure everyone will want to celebrate her passing it Friday night. We are planning on just having a few people over for drinks while we do some cooking for Saturday nights x-mas party at Brady and Megan's. I will be making deviled eggs and egg nog, and Emily is preparing pickled wraps, mojitos, and a desert pretzel dish. Schaefer is making green and red jello shots lol. Also, and very randomly, the cowboys are playing the saints on that Saturday night. I think the cowboys will keep it kind of close but ultimately lose, and then further the misery by losing out the following two weeks. They make me sick.

I have been on a great sleep schedule for a long time now, and I am being much more productive overall. Yesterday I played tpc champions course from the tips and grinded to an 82. I just have a few things wrong with my swing, and I am fully convinced if I put a few weeks of time in I can get them worked out.

My main focus going forward is to enjoy friends and family the rest of the year, and then get down to business in 2010.

Mentally I feel I am just starting to get strong again and with a few months of battles and decent profit and swings I can be rock solid again. Only I can make this happen through hard work and determination.

Weekend...

This weekend was a pretty good time since one of my good poker buddies Mike was in town from NYC. It was kind of a last minute trip decision, but it worked out nicely since my girlfriend was going to LA with a few friends.

We went out both nights this weekend which doesn't happen often for me lol( I am an old man). Sunday was a day of terrible hangovers and lots of NFL football. Mike's favorite team is the Giants and the entire time he was pretty sure they were going to lose. My favorite team is the Cowboys and the entire time I was sure they were going to lose. The boys December implosion has begin and did not disappoint. Its incredible the seasons the boys have pissed away lately with the amount of talent they have.

No poker was played all weekend or Monday. We had planned to golf once or twice this week but someone has different plans, because we woke up to 50 degree weather and rain all day long. Gonna still try and squeeze a round in here before Thursday and get a few good sessions in.

Revelations....

So I have been really struggling as I have said, but working vigorously on getting the fundamentals of my game back in shape. Watching people play etc. I was watching cts play geoff hu and just watching his frequencies closely and I realized what has gone all wrong.

The last 6 months I have been playing so many diff game settings ex. short stacking, cap, ante, 6 max, hu i had lost all basics to the game.

So anyways I dropped down to some 3/6 and some 5/10 hu and 6 max with ante and absolutely murdered 4 guys sitting there and cannot wait to keep playing.

Emily is out in L A this weekend with her friends going to some band gigs at local bars and such, but my long time and first poker buddie mike martin is coming into town tonight so I will have someone to snuggle with!

last 700 hands im up 3.8k

and now up 1.2k on the month oh joy!

Some great football all weekend I need a big win in fantasy.

updates....

I played varying limits today and struggled once again losing about 3.4k.

For the month I have played 3500 hands and am stuck $2600 which is just absurd.

I watched numerous videos online to help out my focus, and I think they helped me notice a few spots I am spewing/getting myself into some trouble. I will just continue trudging along and game select, eventually I will find my leaks and get into a groove.

Just let this year end please.

Where to begin....

Its been a week since I have posted and my mood overall is frustration, so I will just ramble out a bunch of thoughts I am having.

The thanksgiving holiday was remarkable to say the least. Thurs was hot and my buddies and I golfed in the morning and then had thanksgiving and football at a friends house all day. Friday everyone made it out in oldtown and had a blast. I got a terrible hang over but still went to megan and brady's place for a friends type of thanksgiving.

Everyone was drinking and having a blast, and we just sit around and talk about life issues and are all very open; its refreshing.

I have been playing a TON since my last update and had things going but went on tilt badly one day dropping 8k at 3/6 and 5/10 plo. Then the worst thing possible happens a super soft 2 tables on stars 25/50 plo open up and i watch for a bit and plan on sitting. I have a bet with a friend to not play that high and i messaged him and took the bet off and hopped in.

Today rolls around and I am frustrated from the losing but have gained back 4k and ready to grind, and my friend text me asking me about our no 25/50 bet(this is a diff friend who i totally forgot we had this bet with). I wasnt playing and sneaking around this bet and now I have to shell out this money it makes me absolutey sick.

I played a bunch more hands today and lost a touch and am up like 500$ on the month. I simply have to have leaks. The games are soooo tight the win rates just plummet and frustration can set in. I have battled back nicely from being stuck big two sessions in a row which is a plus.

Money has been flying out of my accounts at such a rapid rate this year I just dont even know what to do with myelf. I have cut back alot and really am starting to grind. Babysteps toward a 20k month is all I can do at this point, I think I may also lock up some more money here at the end of the year that I can't touch.

I just need to get into winning ways, and the best players are still winning so I know it can be done.

I cannot wait for december so then I can see my family at home and have one treat of a new years trip before I start a new year(which is sounds cliche, but I need a fresh start).

Oh also I own a % of a W$ trading business and stars just converted all W$ to T$ which essentially makes a business a bust moving forward.

My friends, and most of all my girlfriend really keep me going through the tough times like this.

One positive note is I have a % of a person playing a big fish on UB and hes really taking it to him hope he can get the last of his $$$, if not oh well he made a great run.

So essentially I lost focus through stretches of playing, and need to continue to play war inside my mind to stay strong.

updates....

First off a little poker update from last blog I made, which is on the 16th:

PLO: 2640 hands $3301.55

I am happy with this amount of hands in 7 weekdays of play. I also played a handful of sngs and mixed games hand that I don't want to deal with putting on this comp. Mixed game hands are so brutal to track btw.

I am really enjoying just crunching out hands vs weak opponents and is my plan going ahead the rest of this year, and all of 2010.

That said I just battled this kid who has ran up a huge roll on UB at 100/200 plo and had 25% of myself... it was a nice spot to be in but I was pretty fidgety as I have never truly been comfortable playing this high. He got up early then I was up 15k or so but ended up losing 3kish and called it a night.

Its pretty amazing how you just have to battle at even the mid/low limits now through rough patches. I have really enjoyed playing and getting back into longer sessions.

Just gonna play a bit tomorrow and get some things done, and probably relax and have good time with friends for thanksgiving holiday.

I have really been pushing through The Book of Basketball by bill Simmons, and its fantastic. I recommend it to anyone who likes Simmons or hoops.

My parents are doing a remodel on their house(adding on to kitchen, doing some things with the deck) and I will put pictures up when I get a chance.

Gonna keep trying to focus as much as possible and be productive.

Weekend...

Seems like a lot went on this weekend, but I didn't even go out at all.

First off the sixers and lakers both lost in these huge bets this kid made, but we got him back the next day in a college fball bet, and two more nba bets to be down just a little. I absolutely hate betting on games like this but with the kid paying 10% its hard to find that kind of return anywhere, especially the last year.

The cowboys game was an absolute nightmare and I don't even want to discuss it. I do not understand how good teams can play games like this year after year. AH HA! maybe they aren't good.

The colts pats game was the game of the year and the finish of the year probably. I liked the pats choice to go for it on 4th. They probably make that something like 75% of the time and then go on to win 95ish% of the time. Where if they punt and give them the ball they prolly hold them out of the endzone maybe 45-50% of the time. Whatever the case I am sure the pats have lengthy data on the situation, and made the correct decision. With that said strictly coaching off game theory and an OK understand of football I think my friends and I could out coach a significant number of nfl coaches in a lot of situations within the game.

I played a lot of poker this weekend which is great. Lot of mixed game action and almost done clearing a bonus. I will post results in the next blog.
